Question 1

How are Amazon FBA fees calculated in 2026?

Accepted Answer

In 2026, Amazon FBA fees are calculated using a 4-part structure: (1) Category Referral Fee ranging from 5%–17% (with sub-$15 apparel at 5% and consumer electronics at 8%), (2) Size-and-weight tiered FBA fulfillment fees billed on the higher of actual unit weight or dimensional weight (L × W × H / 139), (3) Inbound Placement Service fees ($0.21–$0.34/unit standard, $1.30+ bulky) unless distributed across 4+ inbound locations, and (4) Monthly inventory storage fees ($0.78/cu ft Jan–Sep, increasing to $2.40/cu ft during Q4 peak holiday season).

Question 2

What is the true cost of selling on TikTok Shop with affiliate commissions?

Accepted Answer

The true cost of selling on TikTok Shop typically totals 18%–25% of gross GMV. This comprises the normalized 6.0% platform commission fee, a 1.9% + $0.30 payment processing transaction surcharge, creator affiliate commissions (customizable between 5% and 20%, averaging 10%–12%), and outbound shipping or Fulfillment by TikTok (FBT) rates ($3.99–$6.99+ depending on parcel weight).

Question 3

How to calculate your break-even ROAS for Shopify Meta ads?

Accepted Answer

Your Break-Even Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) is calculated as: Break-Even ROAS = Retail Selling Price / (Retail Selling Price - Landed COGS - Payment Gateway 2.9%+$0.30 - 3PL Pick/Pack/Ship - Monthly App Overhead). For example, on a $40 retail item with $12 COGS, $5 shipping, $1.46 gateway, and $0.45 app costs, you have $21.09 available for ad spend. The minimum break-even ROAS is $40 / $21.09 = 1.90x. Any campaign delivering above 1.90x ROAS yields positive net cashflow.

Question 4

What is Dimensional Weight and how does it inflate fulfillment fees?

Accepted Answer

Dimensional (DIM) weight represents package density: (Length × Width × Height) / 139 for Amazon FBA and commercial carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS). Both Amazon and 3PL carriers bill based on whichever is greater: actual scale weight or dimensional weight. Lightweight, bulky products (like throw pillows, shoe organizers, or yoga mats) often get billed as 4–6 lb parcels despite weighing only 1.2 lbs on a scale.

Question 5

How does the Reverse Target Price formula calculate required listing prices?

Accepted Answer

The Reverse Target Price equation algebraically isolates retail price (P): Required Price = (Target Net Profit + Fixed Fulfillment + Storage + Payment Surcharges + Landed COGS) / [1 - (Platform Commission Rate + Ad Spend Rate + Payment Gateway Rate)]. OmniMargin solves this equation through sub-cent numerical convergence across all 5 platforms simultaneously.

Question 6

Does Walmart Marketplace charge monthly store subscription fees?

Accepted Answer

No. Unlike Amazon Professional Selling accounts ($39.99/month), Walmart Marketplace imposes zero recurring monthly store subscription fees and zero gateway processing surcharges. Sellers pay strictly category-based referral fees (typically 8% to 15%) and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) fees if opting for Walmart 2-day delivery logistics.
